About the Ruger Mini-14
Sturm, Ruger introduced the Mini-14 in 1973 as a scaled-down, gas-operated semi-automatic rifle chambered in .223 Remington, with an action derived from the M1 Garand/M14 pattern. It was marketed for sporting, ranch and law enforcement use. Ruger later added the Ranch Rifle, stainless and folding-stock variants, and updated the design in the 2000s.
