About the Tula SKS-45: Adopted in 1945 and entering full production in 1949, the SKS-45 was designed by Sergei Simonov as the Soviet Union's first modern self-loading service rifle. This 1954-dated example was manufactured at Tula Arsenal during the height of its SKS production, before the plant shifted to AK-47 manufacturing in 1956.
