About the Sig Sauer P226
The P226 is a full-size, double-action/single-action, hammer-fired semi-automatic pistol developed by SIG and Sauer for the US XM9 service pistol trials in the early 1980s. It uses a 15-round double-stack magazine in 9mm, a 4.4 inch barrel in most references, and a decocker. It was adopted widely by law enforcement and military units, and many variants followed.
