Sales Description
Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless semi-automatic pistol chambered in .32 ACP. Serial number 86092. Designed by the legendary John Moses Browning, this sleek, elegant pistol is widely considered one of the most iconic firearms of the early 20th century. Manufactured in 1909, this specific pistol is classified by collectors as a "Type II" variation. Distinguished from the very first models, the Type II features a slightly shortened 3.75-inch barrel but retains the separate barrel bushing and lacks the magazine disconnect safety that was added in later production runs.
Despite its "Hammerless" moniker, the firearm utilizes a concealed internal hammer designed specifically to allow for a smooth, snag-free draw from a coat or vest pocket. Known for exceptional ergonomics and natural pointability, the 1903 was a favorite among civilians, law enforcement, and eventually U.S. General Officers. This early Type II example stands as a beautifully machined piece of American firearms history.
